August 2nd Meeting – The Hermosillo Highland Park

Greetings Yeastside Brewers,

This Saturday, August 2nd, we will have our meeting at The Hermosillo in Highland Park.  We have had a meeting there in the past, but they just recently opened their own Brewery!!  Highland Park Brewery  is among the many new breweries opening in the LA area.  It is an exciting time for the craft beer industry, and we are reaping all the benefits!  Hopefully, we will be able to get a tour of the brewery with the owner.  Thanks to the Hermosillo for hosting! Also, they have a shuffleboard and a ring toss game that I am pretty good at.  Bring it on!

Things to bring to Saturday’s Meeting:

  • Tasting Glass (YSB glasses are for sale)
  • Homebrew
  • Money or Credit Card for shirts, glassware, and commercial beers
Hollywood Pub Crawl:

Here is the info for the Pub Crawl we have planned for August 17th in Hollywood.  I have gotten some response but I am hoping to get a larger group!

1pm – Lucky Devils – 6613 Hollywood Blvd

2pm – Ball and Chain – 1642 Cahuenga Blvd

3pm – Berlin Currywurst – 1620 Cahuenga Blvd

4pm – District 13 – 1556 Cahuenga Blvd

5pm – Stout Burgers and Beer – 1544 Cahuenga Blvd

All the locations are very close together and we will spend an hour or so at each place.  They all serve food so you can fuel up during the crawl.  There is great transportation to this area and I encourage you to use public transportation, get dropped off and picked up, or book an Uber for the crawl!  Please be responsible!  There might also be some extra curricular activity at Blue Palms Brewhouse if you are so inclined.  Again please RSVP as soon as possible and the more the merrier!

SoCal Regional comp is still TBD, all quiet on their website so far about this.
LA County Fair is coming up quick! Entries are due by July 18th by 7pm at the Eagle Rock. Register by Noon the same day. Entries are $8 each, and judging will take place on Aug. 2nd in Winnetka. Judging and Steward help will be needed!
Pacific Brewers Cup registration is now open until Aug. 22nd. It isn’t too late to brew for this, if you can knock a beer out in 7 weeks. Judging will take place on Sept. 6th at 3590 Grand View Blvd, 90066. They will need all the help they can get, this competition usually gets upwards of 400 entries. Grand Prize is a 15 gallon Chronical fermenter from SS Brewtech!
Looking for even more comps to enter? Check the AHA website to get an overload of choices!
