MEETINGS

MEETINGS SCHEDULE

We typically meet the second Saturday of every month from 2 to 6PM, unless preempted by a special event or holiday. Locations revolve between members homes (for brew days or related demonstrations), the Eagle Rock Homebrew Supply Shop, Local Brewery Tasting Rooms, and area beer destinations and field trips.

JANUARY

STYLE OF THE MONTH

Meeting Date: Jan 9th 2021

An amber, hoppy, moderate-strength American craft beer with a caramel malty flavor. The balance can vary quite a bit, with some versions being fairly malty and others being aggressively hoppy. Hoppy and bitter versions should not have clashing flavors with the caramel malt profile.

FEBRUARY

STYLE OF THE MONTH

Meeting Date: Feb 12th 2022

A well-balanced, well-attenuated, bitter yet malty, clean, and smooth, amber- to copper-colored German beer. The bitterness is balanced by the malt richness, but the malt intensity and character can range from moderate to high (the bitterness increases with the malt richness).

MARCH

STYLE OF THE MONTH

APRIL

STYLE OF THE MONTH

Meeting Date: April 9th 2022

★Club Competition★

Brewer of the Year points will be awarded to participants this month.

A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale, showcasing modern American and New World hop varieties and rye malt. The balance is hop-forward, with a clean fermentation profile, dry finish, and clean, supporting malt allowing a creative range of hop character to shine through.

MAY

STYLE OF THE MONTH

Meeting Date: May 21st 2022

Refreshing wheat beers that can display more hop character and less yeast character than their German cousins. A clean fermentation character allows bready, doughy, or grainy wheat flavors to be complemented by hop flavor and bitterness rather than yeast qualities.

★Club Competition★

*Beer Dropoff Due by June 11th*

Most commonly, a pale, refreshing, highly-attenuated, moderately-bitter, moderate-strength Belgian ale with a very dry finish.

AUGUST

STYLE OF THE MONTH

Mead is created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops.

SEPTEMBER

STYLE OF THE MONTH

Meeting Date: Sept 10th 2022

★Club Competition★

Brewer of the Year points will be awarded to participants this month.

The Scottish Light, Heavy and Export guidelines read nearly the same for each style of beers. As the gravity increases, so does the character of the beers in question. Historically, the three types of beer were parti-gyled to different strengths, and represented an adaptation of English pale ales but with reduced strengths and hopping rates, and darker colors (often from added caramel).

OCTOBER

STYLE OF THE MONTH

Any Bock:

Meeting Date: Oct 8th 2022

A dark German lager that balances roasted yet smooth malt flavors with moderate hop bitterness. The lighter body, dryness, and lack of a harsh, burnt, or heavy aftertaste helps make this beer quite drinkable.

★Club Competition★
