November 5th is the American Homebrewer’s Association “Learn To Homebrew Day.” You’ll have a chance to learn about all-grain brewing if you are thinking about making the jump from extract. Steve Raub from Eagle Rock Brewery will be brewing his Full Moon Bock as a pilot batch. It begins at 9AM, and the cost is $10. You get a simple lunch and a pint of ERB beer as well. Find more info and sign up here. If you don’t want to attend the entire brew day, we’ll be starting the normal meeting at 2PM. Our fellow Yeastside Brewer and ERB Taproom manager Lee Bakofsky will be giving a tour of the brewery around 2:30. We can share homebrews until the taproom opens for the public at 4PM.
The style of the month is Dark Lagers, but feel free to bring any type of homebrew to share and discuss with your fellow brewers. You can bring commercial beer examples to this meeting.
We will be picking the club entry for the Club Only Competition in German Wheat beers. This covers categories 15A, B, C, and D. If you have one of these, bring 3 (12oz.) bottles and we’ll have a judging panel pick the brew to represent our club.
If you would like to visit Island Brewing, Surf Brewing, and Ladyface to the North of LA, consider joining Pacific Gravity on their November 12th road trip. Cost is $30, and the bus leaves at 9:30AM from the Culver City Homebrew Shop.
